According to the World Health Organization’s safety assessment, IR3535® is generally considered safe for both humans and pets, and does not pose a hazard under normal use.</p><p>Although IR3535® has a high safety profile, for the sake of your pet’s health we recommend avoiding direct contact with areas of skin or hair where the lotion has been applied, as pets may ingest it when grooming. We also suggest monitoring for any signs of allergic reactions such as drooling, sneezing, itching, or lethargy.</p></div>

<div class="metafield-rich_text_field"><p>The three most common and recognized effective mosquito repellent ingredients are DEET, Icaridin, and IR3535®.<br /><br />According to evaluations by Mustela’s toxicologists, IR3535® is considered the safest ingredient for babies and children, while also ensuring optimal mosquito repellent effectiveness.<br /><br />In Hong Kong, although mosquito repellents are not regulated under the Pesticides Ordinance, Mustela products undergo more than 450 measurements and tests before being launched on the market to guarantee their safety and efficacy.</p></div>

How does the repellent work? Does it kill the mosquitos?

<div class="metafield-rich_text_field"><p>Its active substances interfere with the mosquitos’ olfactory system and/or disturb their nervous system, driving them away from the area of application without killing them.</p></div>

Are products based on synthetic molecules better than essential oils? Are they more effective?

All essential oils do not present the same risks, some can be allergenic for example.</p></div>

"What if my child swallows some of the product? What should I do?"

<div class="metafield-rich_text_field"><p>Here are some precautions for use:<br />- Keep out of children’s reach<br />- If applied to children under 12, the biocidal product must be applied by an adult<br />- Do not apply on children's hands<br />- Wash your hands before touching food<br />- Do not apply when standing close to food or drinks, or on surfaces or utensils that may come into direct contact with food or drinks<br />- Avoid contact between treated skin and food to avoid contamination<br /><br />If swallowed: have the victim drink water immediately (two glasses maximum). Contact a poison control center or a doctor for advice.<br /><br />If the product comes in contact with the eyes: rinse eyes with plenty of lukewarm water, holding the eyelids apart, then continue rinsing under a stream of lukewarm water for 10 minutes.<br /><br />If signs of irritation persist or visual disturbances appear, seek medical attention.<br /><br />In case of contact with the mouth: rinse with plenty of water and contact the poison control center or call your local emergency number.<br /><br />In case of skin reaction, redness or persistent pain after application of the product, contact the poison control center or seek medical advice.<br /><br />If the product is inhaled in high concentrations: have the person rest in a half-sitting position; if symptoms appear, contact the poison control center or call your local emergency number.<br /><br />In case the affected person shows consciousness disorders, place the person in a lateral position of safety (lying on the side); call your local emergency number. Can you apply it before/after a swim?

A repellent that actually works

"I am one of those people that attracts all the mosquitos. Having tried a large variety of products, this is actually the first time something has truly worked. I don't recall how I discovered the science behind one of the key ingredients in this lotion -- an enzyme/amino acid. But once I understood how it worked, it made sense. And then I tried it. With the very rainy spring and early summer, we've had a ton of mosquitos. I now feel confident going outside without worrying about being attacked and bitten. The mosquitos still find me but the repellent acts as a barrier that really works. And, anywhere I didn't apply the lotion is usually where I get a bite. So I know first-hand that it's really doing the job I need from it."
