All-round development in childhood
Since 1982, the Mustela Foundation has been dedicated to supporting children’s development in all aspects of their lives, including birth, growth, family relationships, and social circumstances. The foundation’s actions are built on three pillars: supporting academic research, promoting grassroots field projects, and providing information and raising awareness to professionals in the field of children’s health and the wider public. Since its inception, the Mustela Foundation has been under the protection of the French Foundation (Fondation de France) and works closely with experts in the field of children to promote various programs.
Interdisciplinary research
First and foremost is the support for research: this is the historic mission of the Mustela Foundation. This mission has yielded fruitful results—in over 40 years of operation, the Foundation has awarded more than 250 research prizes and fellowships! The Foundation is committed to rewarding research in areas related to child development, including pediatrics, psychiatry, psychology, midwifery, sociology, and public health. The Mustela Foundation supports research projects led by professionals from all walks of life, ranging from midwives to epidemiologists, physicians, and psychologists.
Working on the front lines in France and around the world
Secondly, there is support for on-the-ground action: the Mustela Foundation funds numerous grassroots initiatives through social organizations throughout France, including parent support workshops, domestic violence prevention, assistance to families in distress, and hosting isolated mothers or women with mental health issues. In addition, the foundation annually funds projects promoted by overseas associations or NGOs, dedicated to working alongside children and their families. Some projects are humanitarian in nature, such as those in neighboring countries of Ukraine in 2022 and the recent operation in Mayotte; others focus on local development issues (such as education, healthcare, and mental health support), such as the project in Lebanon.
Prevention and Advocacy
Finally, the foundation provides information to all child health and medical professionals, who then pass that knowledge on to families. How to identify and address child abuse? What are the subtle signs of bullying in schools? How to care for young children's mental health? How to empower women during childbirth? What challenges do immigrant mothers face? These are all topics the Mustela Foundation strives to address with clear and understandable answers, disseminating information and promoting prevention through diverse media such as podcasts, videos, and online articles. All content is designed and produced in collaboration with experts in the relevant fields.

Research, Action and Promotion:
Through these three main directions, the Mustela Foundation is fully committed to supporting (future) professionals and the families they serve.
