An infant's skin barrier is not yet fully developed, and many invisible pollutants can accumulate on their face throughout the day, potentially damaging their skin health. Therefore, it is crucial to cleanse a baby's skin daily using cleansing products specifically designed for their delicate skin. To help the baby get used to this process, it is recommended to make cleansing a daily routine, ideally at the same time each day.
Preparation before cleaning
Make it a habit to wash your hands before cleaning, and only use products designed for babies' sensitive skin.
Facial cleansing
Eyes: Moisten a cotton ball or sterile gauze with saline solution and gently wipe from the outer corner of the eye inwards. Use a fresh cotton ball for the other eye.
Ears: Use your fingers to roll a cotton ball into a thin tube to clean the outside of the ear, preventing earwax buildup. Do not use cotton swabs, as they may irritate or even damage the baby's ears.
Nose: Use a cotton swab moistened with saline solution to gently insert into the nostril to soften the secretions, then use the dry end to blot it dry.
Face: Clean your baby's face as needed, and don't forget to clean behind the ears, as dirt tends to accumulate there. You can use a no-rinse cleansing solution or cleanse with a cotton ball dampened with cleansing milk, then rinse with water.
Hair: When styling your baby's hair, you can spray a few drops of Musti baby perfume onto a baby-specific comb to make the hair smoother.
Body cleaning
Nails: It is recommended to wait at least one month after birth before cutting a baby's nails, as they are still fragile and prone to breakage at this time. Afterward, nails can be trimmed regularly. Round-tipped nail clippers are recommended, and the trimming should be done when the baby is calm and in a stable mood. Parents can gently hold the baby's hands or feet and talk to them softly to reassure them. Avoid cutting the nails too short to prevent infection.
Diaper changing: Clean your baby's bottom carefully each time you change a diaper, especially in the skin folds, as moisture can easily cause sensitivity. You can use baby wipes, no-rinse cleansing solution, or baby cleanser. After cleaning, gently pat the skin dry before putting on a diaper.
Umbilical cord care: The umbilical cord requires special care after the baby is born, and it will fall off naturally in about 7-10 days. To avoid infection, clean it daily with sterile gauze soaked in disinfectant, and then carefully dry it with clean gauze.
Hands: When going out, before eating, or in the car, please carry baby wipes with you to clean your baby's hands frequently.
You can also spray a few drops of Musti baby perfume on your baby's body or clothes. This will not only give off a light fragrance but also stimulate your baby's sense of smell.
