Since G6PD deficiency is not common in Europe, Mustela products have not been specifically tested for this condition. Mustela Very High Protection Suncare series uses a hybrid formula combining physical and chemical filters. The physical sunscreen ingredients form a protective “reflective shield” on the skin’s surface to directly block UV rays, while the chemical filters absorb UV radiation and convert it into heat that is safely released. Together, these two types of filters provide more comprehensive protection, effectively guarding against both UVA and UVB rays.
Mustela Very High Protection Sunscreen range is water- and sweat-resistant, so we recommend using a regular facial cleanser for removal.
For infants and children, we suggest using Mustela Organic Micellar Water. It gently removes sunscreen, external irritants, and impurities from the face. No rinsing is required after wiping, ensuring the skin stays pure while maintaining hydration and protecting the natural barrier function of the skin’s hydrolipidic film.
To choose a suitable sunscreen for your child, make sure you use following checklist:
its high tolerance formula is suitable for babies’ and children’s skin; it has been tested under dermatological control, from birth; and of course, its protection factor must be high, ideally SFP50+.
If your child has very fair or quite sensitive skin, choose a sunscreen for intolerant or atopy-prone skin.
Finally, make your life easier by picking a practical, non-sticky and waterproof sunscreen.
It is recommended you use sun protection products with a high factor, given the vulnerability of children's skin to the sun.
Products that are SPF 50 or 50+ are recommended.
For optimum safety, try to choose hypoallergenic formulas that are free from fragrances, colorant and alcohol, based on organic or organic-mineral screens.
No, sun products for adults are not suitable for babies’ immature skin: often perfumed or based on chemical filters, they also usually have an insufficient sun protection index.
For infants’ skin it is therefore essential to use special sun protection, with a very high protection index.
