If your baby's activities require sun exposure, please take special precautions to protect their delicate skin! Following a few simple rules will help maintain your baby's skin and its natural defenses, preventing severe sun damage. Childhood is the best time for learning; habits formed now will be naturally followed by your child in the future.
Sun protection rules
- Avoid exposing your baby to direct sunlight , especially between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
- When the sun is strong, be sure to find a shady spot .
- Never expose your baby to the sun naked or wearing only a swimsuit . Dress your child in loose-fitting clothing , preferably thick cotton to filter UV rays, and pair it with a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses that meet EU standards and have a UV protection level of 3 or 4.
- Apply a thick layer of sunscreen 20 minutes before sun exposure, with an SPF of 50 or higher . Pay special attention to sensitive areas such as the forehead, cheekbones, nose, and lips.
- Even in the shade or on cloudy days, protection is still necessary : more than 80% of ultraviolet rays can penetrate clouds, and a parasol is not enough to protect against them.
- Avoid sunscreens that may cause allergies; mineral or organic mineral sunscreens are recommended.
- Reapply every 2 hours , and immediately after the baby goes into the water .
Make sure your baby drinks water regularly , even if he/she doesn't ask for it.
- Store sunscreen products properly : keep the cap tightly closed, avoid exposure to sunlight, and never reuse opened products the following year.
Choosing the right sunscreen for your child
Babies' skin is thinner and more delicate than adults', making it particularly vulnerable to sun damage. Therefore, it's essential to choose a sunscreen with high protection while gently caring for the skin and protecting healthy cells . An ideal sunscreen should meet the following criteria:
- It provides SPF 50+ and UVA protection , protects the skin barrier , maintains natural defenses, and prevents cell damage.
- Guaranteed to be highly tolerable : Hypoallergenic formula, alcohol-free, preservative-free, and dermatologically tested.
- Suitable for children's activities : waterproof and sweatproof, color develops after application, avoids missing areas.
- Suitable for children's skin type : If your baby has very light or sensitive skin, choose products specifically designed for sensitive skin.
